Some basic formulas useful in
CCD imaging






I tried here to put only formulas without any trigonometry. As angles are very small accuracy is good.
So you can apply this formulas with only X and /.
 
 

  ARCSEC ANGLE SEEN:

ARCSEC = SIZE OF OBJECT X 206000 / DISTANCE
Size  and distance in same unit.

Exemple: Moon: size 3476 km , distance : 384000 km
Angle : 1864 arcsec,  31,08 mn (/60)
 
 

RESOLUTION IN SECONDES BY PIXEL:

Resolution= 206 X pixel in microns / focal in mm

Exemple:

Pixels of my  MX916 are 11 microns wide and my focal is 1575 mm

206x11/1575= 1,44 arcsec by pixel. It is good without any wind !

FIELD  OF VIEW

Field in  arcmn = 3438 X ccd size mm / focal in mm

My MX 916 are 8,6 mm wide, my focal is 1575 mm , so i have field of view of 18,77 minutes.
